Ueo, registered as Mattia Rivolta, was born in Como in 1980.

His first contact with art and drawing came at sixteen, on walls. Around twenty-four, almost without realizing it, he picked up a tattoo machine and began transferring to his skin what he had recently learned on concrete: not a conversion, but a continuity.

The wall becomes body; the lettering, composition. For years, Ueo has been working on the evolution of Japanese tattooing, which he considers the most fertile territory for experimenting with movement, balance, and symbolism. He calls it "Japan revisited in a modern key": not a copy of traditional canons, but a personal reworking in which dragons, masks, flowers, waves, and rare figures blend with realistic elements, new school, and unusual details. Saturated colors interact with black and white; the background doesn't act as a frame, it intertwines with the subject until it becomes a single flow.

It's inevitable, then, that full-body suits are his favorite works. Studying the flow of a design on the entire body, anticipating how that design will evolve over time, with the muscles, with the aging of the skin, is for him the essence of the craft: not decorating a surface, but accompanying an anatomy.

In Como, where he continues to live and tattoo - in the studio once opened in his grandfather's old shoemaker's shop - Ueo carries out this research with the same discipline as the one who, as a boy, went down at night to sign the walls.
